Notes from the Vice President . |

- I just want to start by wishing
everyone a happy and healthy New Year!!!!. Yes it is 2008 and it
should be a great year for Swetland RC fliers. Over the past two
years I have seen the club grow in many different directions. Our
members fly just about everything there is to fly in RC. From the
cutting edge technology of the turbines to the simplest park flyer
you can see it all at our field. We have had several new
members join at the close of 2007 and they are now flying for the
most part solo. Mark and I are grateful to all the club members
who welcomed these new members and took the time out to
help them. If you noticed we now have a porta-john located
to the rear of the field. We hope to have this available year round.
I realize that there are some cost issues hear ($75.00) per
month but I think it is a positive addition to the field. It is nice
to have if our families or friends stop by to check on us. I
know real man go in the woods but we have to think of the women and
children and Donnie. We hope to keep getting better and welcome any
ideas or suggestions that you feel can improve the club. I know Ron
our safety coordinator has some new and exciting ideas on how
to keep us safe. Which we will explore over the coming year. At
our next meeting we hope to discuss the 2008 calendar of events.
Flyins and fund raisers to help offset the cost of maintaining and
improving our field will be one of the topics we hope to
discuss plus any other relative club business
or membership concerns. I am sorry to say we all know
it is that time of year again. Donnie has banned me from
flying until I get my AMA. So I got it. Just a reminder. I look
forward to 2008 but I remember 2007 and all the friends and family I
left behind and I pray for our good friends Bob and Bruce who will
always be members of this club in good
standing. |
